This vintage sterling silver ring showcases a striking elongated cabochon of red spiny oyster shell, known for its vibrant orange-red tones and natural striations. The stone is bezel-set and framed by a bold split-shank band with applied silver raindrop details, a classic element of 1970s-1980s Southwestern design.
The inside is marked with a simple "B" hallmark, but the exact maker is unknown. Because of this, we describe the piece as Southwestern style rather than definitively Native American. Spiny oyster is a treasured material historically used alongside turquoise and coral in Southwestern jewelry, admired for its vivid colors and organic beauty.
Currently sized at 8.5, this ring makes a bold statement and carries the character of mid-century artisan silverwork.

It is sometimes difficult to determine how a ring will fit without being able to try it on. I always recommend taking your favorite ring to a local jeweler and comparing the way that it sits on a mandrel (ring sizer) with the pictures in the listings prior to purchase. Sometimes wide band rings fit a little differently and I always want my customers to be 100% happy with their purchases! Please let me know if I can help by offering more pictures for size comparison.

To Reserve an item:
I offer reserves! If you are interested in an item and would like me to hold it for you for purchase at a later date, please feel free to send a message and let me know. I am happy to hold items for one week.

Gemstones:
Based on our viewing of the gemstones listed in any item, under 10X magnification, and in comparing the color of the gemstone to what is typical in identification of the gemstone mentioned in the listing, we are confident in our identification, however are unable to determine whether pieces are lab- or earth-grown given the growing complexities of modern gemological laboratory technology.
Unfortunately, given the price point of Sterling Silver vintage jewelry, we do not provide full gemological reports with our items because they are quite costly to obtain, however we use a Presidium gem tester to double check our assessment so that our customers can feel confident buying from us. We always do our best to accurately identify our pieces!

As the nature of testing Pearl is a potentially damaging one, a scratch test, we have priced this item based on the value in its design rather than that of any perceived value in the gemstone as it may very well be a manmade Pearl rather than one created in nature.

Vintage Style:
In order to preserve the original vintage or antique integrity of my jewelry and collectible items, I do not polish them. Most items can be polished by a professional jeweler in order to achieve a brilliant shine, but many customers prefer the original luster of an unpolished piece. 
*Example: Most jewelers charge between $5-25 for Clean & Polish of a vintage sterling silver ring, but some will offer this as a complimentary service to customers. 
My cleaning process is simply using warm water and liquid dish soap to disinfect.
